10th Annual Food Drive

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

On a day where we are thankful for friends, family, and loved ones, we at TSS want to share another reason we are thankful. As of day-end on Tuesday, November 21st, our 10th Annual Food Drive came to a close. With many fundraising events over the last five weeks, our team set records with their generosity!  Each fall we collaborate with a couple local organizations with this year’s food drive and supporting events benefiting the Upper Valley Haven and David’s House. The fundraising began on October 16th with the first of our themed giving days. With one themed giving day each week (listed below), employees were challenged to bring in the most items for the corresponding day.

  • Microwave Monday (October 16th)
  • Toiletries Tuesday (October 24th)
  • Warm Up Wednesday (November 1st)
  • Time for a Snack Thursday (November 9th)
  • Fruit Loop Friday (November 17th)

Our annual TSS breakfast kicked off November 8th, with members of our team volunteering to cook and those in attendance bringing a monetary donation.  We were able to raise $560! At this time, the Upper Valley Haven presented us with an additional challenge of coming up with 500 boxes of stuffing to fill their 500 Thanksgiving baskets that were handed out on November 18th. We are happy to report that we met the challenge and were able to donate all 500 boxes! ‘Tis truly the season of giving!

This past Friday, November 17th, we held the drawing for our annual raffle, where local businesses generously donated items to be raffled off. We would like to send a special thank you to Three Tomatoes, White River Car Wash, and Brown Furniture for your contributions to the raffle.  With these items and other purchased items to be raffled, the amount raised was our best yet, totaling $700!

In further support of this year’s efforts, the office held multiple auctions, including three PTO auctions and a dessert auction. Employees had three chances to bid for 8 hours of PTO, which raised a total of $815! The dessert silent auction is one of our best fundraising efforts. This year we had 12 bakers bring in a total of 21 desserts to be auctioned off. With bids coming from both employees and people outside the firm, a total of $970 resulted from this auction! Between these six supporting events, $3045 was raised and then used to purchase items for the drive.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this fundraiser, making it our biggest success yet! Additionally, we’d like to give a special thank you to Amanda Hogan for all of her hard work coordinating this food drive once again. With all of the money raised from the events above, as well as other individual donations, we were able to raise a total of $4,145!  Sprinkle Amanda’s savvy shopping on top… and we were able to purchase $6,026 worth of food and personal care items! Between purchases and other nonperishable donations, the total given to David’s House and the Upper Valley Haven was over 6,500 items! We’re thankful for everyone who contributed to this great cause and we hope to break more records next year!
